Robot Lamp

Violent by design.

The robot lamp was a first attempt at creating kinetic furniture. The robot lamp has three legs that can be set at varied heights to create different lighting environments.

The robot doubles as a table. Set at the appropriate height it can be used as an occasional table. Inspired by Theo Jansens 'Strandbeests', the robot lamp has joints that can move, and a design that is dynamic to its environment.

The lamp features ribbed cutout slots along the top third of its shade, allowing just enough light for doing late night tasks above without turning on any brighter lights.

When the legs are bent, the lamp goes into 'defense mode'. With large spikes found on the knees protruding out. The lamp stands as an independent entity, capable of defending itself.
